Day 1 Arrival On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be welcomed by a McBern Tours and Travel representative who will guide and assist you throughout the tour. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the veranda that overlooks the savannah plains with the magnificent Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. Day 2: Transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park After an early breakfast, we will be transferred to the southwest part of the country. On our way, we will pass the Ugandan Equator where we will make a stop for photos and souvenir shopping with lunch en route. In the afternoon arrival in Queen Elizabeth NP for an introductory game drive and continue to either to Mweya Safari Lodge or Simba Safari Camp for overnight. Dinner and overnight at A) Simba Safari Camp/ Mweya Safari Lodge Day 3: Queen Elizabeth NP The day begins early as we start with a morning game drive and head for the mating ground of the Uganda Kobs. We search for the lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in their natural habitat before returning for lunch. In the afternoon we take on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the abundant bird life that is sighted, and the elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores, this cruise will definitely be one of the highlights of your safari. Dinner and overnight at A)Simba Safari Camp, Mweya Safari Lodge Day 4: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest We will transfer from Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi forest. Travelling via Ishasha - subject to road conditions - you can observe the unusual behaviour exhibited by the tree-climbing lions. You will have a long journey through the rapidly changing landscape and beauty of the Pearl of Africa. Depending on arrival time, you can visit the local village. Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest After enjoying an early breakfast, there you go for the gorilla tracking. Trekking through the steep, densely forested hills and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Gorilla tracking in the Bwindi forest can take much of the day's time day. You can alternatively do other activities which the park has to offer. You can take a guided walk in the rainforest, and see different bird species, clouds of butterflies and rare plant life. This walk offers excellent photographic opportunities and the knowledgeable guide will provide a great insight to the riches of Uganda. Have time to walk through the local village, and learn about community projects and how local people lead their lives. You can as well discover the traditions of the Batwa Pygmies, and learn about the native tribal inhabitants of the forest. These are people of Bwindi forest, though no longer resident in the forest, still practice many of their traditional hunter-gatherer skills. For many years, they shared the forest with the gorillas. Day 6: Experience the Batwa trail You will Experience the lives of the Batwa Pygmies, and walk the Batwa Trail. You will have the chance to learn about the unique cultural heritage of the forest's indigenous people. Whilst you walk through the forest, the Batwa will demonstrate their traditional hunting techniques and knowledge of medicinal plants. Hike the Muhavura or Gahinga Volcanoes. The lower slopes are rich with forest birds and the marshes near the summit are home to bushbuck and elusive duiker. Muhavura is the most challenging peak in the park. The hike will take most of the day, but the adventurous will be rewarded with great sense of accomplishment and if it is on a good day, you will definitely enjoy the great views. You may as well take a guided nature walk through the park to track the golden monkeys. The path takes you from the bamboo stands and a forested gorge on the lower levels to the elevated heath and moorland higher up. The forest is not only home to the rare golden monkey, but also a great diversity of birds and other wildlife. Day 7: Transfer to Kigali We will head south to Rwanda to a hotel where you will take a rest, then after lunch enjoy a city tour with stops at the genocide memorial sites and other places of interest. Overnight at Hotel des Mille Collines or equivalent Day 8: Transfer from Kigali to Parc National Des Volcans After breakfast, you will have a guided city tour and visit some interesting, historical sites, including the Kigali Memorial Centre. Have lunch in the capital city before we proceed to the most beautiful national park of the country: Volcanoes National Park. It is the place with a bamboo forest and open grassland and swamps. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge Day 9: Parc National Des Volcans You will have the opportunity to see mountain gorillas and also make a beautiful hike through the green landscape and hills of the Virunga Volcanoes. Spend a magical hour with these amazing creatures learning more about the family and their behaviour. You will have an afternoon of relaxation and enjoying the breeze. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge Day 10: Transfer from Parc National Des Volcans to Akagera National Park You will transfer to Akagera National Park for an afternoon or evening game drive, where you may see many night birds and animals. After this, check in for dinner and overnight at Ruzizi Tented Lodge. Day 11: Transfer from Akagera to Nyungwe Forest NP After an early breakfast, you will head for a game drive for a close encounter with animals such as zebras, several antelope species and giraffes. Later, drive out of the park, stopping for lunch at Kigali town and continuing on to Nyungwe Forest. This forest boasts many primate species like the wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, Rwanda Safari black and many others. Therefore a night walk this evening in search of the shy forest dwellers is rewarding and worthwhile. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Rainforest Lodge Day 12: Nyungwe Forest National Park Here, you will have a forest walk in search of the primates. This will take you the whole day accompanied by park rangers and trained guides. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Rainforest Lodge. Day 13: Departure Depending on your flight time, have an early morning breakfast before leaving for Kigali Airport or return to Uganda
